Hey chocoholics, and let's be honest, who isn't? Our club, recently took off on a sweet professional development adventure, a trip to Chocostory in Bshamoun!
Let me tell you, it was pure heaven. The day began with a historical exploration at the Chocostory museum. We learned how chocolate's story unfolded, from its humble beginnings with the indigenous peoples of Central and South America, often referred to as the "Red Indians," to its arrival in Europe. We discovered how the Spanish conquistadors brought cacao beans back across the Atlantic, sparking a new chapter in chocolate's history. The museum also highlighted the intriguing tale of a French woman known for her chocolate obsession, who inadvertently played a role in the evolution of this delectable treat.
But enough with history, right? The real fun began with a live chocolate-making demonstration! We witnessed a live demonstration of the chocolate-making process, where our members rolled up their sleeves and transformed themselves into chocolatiers for the day. From tempering the chocolate and crafting delectable treats, they experienced the art of chocolate making from A to Z.
And the best part? Taking home our very own handmade chocolate creations! Each member proudly carried back a box of sweet souvenirs, a delicious reminder of this unforgettable learning experience.
This PD project wasn't just about satisfying our sweet tooth (although let's be real, that was a perk!). It was about teamwork, unleashing our creativity, and gaining a deeper appreciation for the history and craftsmanship behind this universally loved treat.
So next time you bite into a piece of chocolate, remember the incredible journey it took to get there, and maybe even picture a bunch of Rotaractors, covered in cocoa, proudly displaying their handmade masterpieces!
