Recently, our club had the privilege of partnering with the Rotaract Club of Alexandria Marines to embark on a unique project that delved into the fascinating world of non-verbal communication – a project that not only broadened our horizons but also contributed to building a more inclusive world.
In our engaging sign language session, participants were introduced to the captivating realm of sign language. Led by a skilled and passionate instructor, Alain Martinos, we embarked on a journey that explored the fundamentals of sign language. From basic gestures to more complex expressions, we uncovered the beauty of a language that transcends spoken words.
Through a series of interactive activities and hands-on practice, we not only acquired the skills to communicate through sign language but also gained a profound understanding of the culture and unique communication needs of the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Our aim was to foster greater inclusivity and a deeper appreciation for the richness of human diversity.
Special thank you for the dedication of Salam Morshed, the project leader and the valuable support from the International Service Directors of both clubs.
At its core, this project exemplified the power of collaboration, education, and empathy. It was a reminder of the change we can effect when we come together to bridge gaps and foster understanding.
We are not just people of action; we are champions of inclusivity and builders of bridges. This project was a testament to our commitment to making the world a better place, one sign at a time.
